"I am thy father's spirit."

The ghost tells Hamlet to the secret of the his father's death. Hamlet's father was not killed by a serpent, but was murdered with poison and he also told Hamlet that was his uncle who is the murdered his father, and that he also seduced the Gertrude, his mother. The ghost then tells Hamlet to the avenge his father's death but to leave his mother alone.
